22-year-old Fabiano Dakai is charged with one count of murder.

The trial of the man who allegedly killed a security guard in Waidradra, Navua in 2019 will begin in the Suva High Court tomorrow as the prosecution is waiting for a report from the psychiatrist.

22-year-old Fabiano Dakai is charged with one count of murder for allegedly killing 34-year-old Timoci Dogai on 4th February, 2019.

The prosecution has told the court that they are yet to receive a report from the psychiatrist at Saint Giles Hospital on whether Dakai was capable of understanding questions he was asked during the caution interview where he had admitted to the crime and if Dakai was capable of consenting to give DNA evidence.

High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar then asked the prosecution on what basis the doctor had decided that Dakai was fit to stand trial.

The Prosecution told court Dakai was fit to stand trial after taking the necessary medication.

Dakai pleaded not guilty to the charges this morning.
