Minister for Tourism, Faiyaz Koya.

Minister for Tourism, Faiyaz Koya says the fastest way to bring tourism workers back into employment is by reaching the 80% vaccination target because when borders open up, it will not only be about protecting visitors but it will protect Fijians as well.

Koya says we need to reach our national vaccination targets and we need to maintain a culture of COVID Safe practice in order to be in a position to welcome back visitors.

He highlighted this while speaking on Tourism Fiji’s “It’s our Best Shot for Travel” initiative.

The Ministry says the initiative is gaining a strong momentum as the message is shared across Fiji, with support from tourism partners in Australia and New Zealand.

They say the role vaccination plays in ensuring borders reopen cannot be underestimated and with close to 95% of Fijians receiving one jab and over 40% now fully vaccinated, Fiji is making strong progress towards a target of re-opening in December.
