The Melbourne Storm are the first team into the 2025 NRL Premiership grand final after a 22-14 win over the Sharks in front of 29,233 fans at AAMI Park.
The Storm completed 35 of 40 sets and simply had too much class with Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, and Jahrome Hughes standing tall on the big stage.
Kiwi playmaker Hughes returned just 22 days after fracturing his forearm against the Broncos and delivered a performance of the highest quality.
After losing last year's decider to Penrith, the Storm will get a shot at redemption next Sunday and will chase the club’s fifth premiership when they meet the winner of tomorrow’s second preliminary final between the Panthers and the Broncos.
The Storm are into their sixth grand final in the past decade, winning premierships in 2017 and 2020 and finishing runners-up in 2016, 2018, and 2024.
For the Sharks, the disappointment of another preliminary final loss will cut deep, but Sione Katoa (2 tries, 163 run metres, seven tackle breaks) and KL Iro (203 run metres) could hold their heads high.
Meanwhile, the Panthers will face the Broncos at 6.05pm tomorrow.
