Fiji Airways Fijiana coach Senirusi Seruvakula says he supports the proposal to have a separate competition for women’s rugby.

Seruvakula says it is unfair for Lautoka to be demoted as champions of the women’s competition.

Last season, the Lautoka women’s team was demoted because the Lautoka men’s team was one of two teams at the bottom of the Skipper Cup competition points table.

Seruvakula adds it will be good to have a single competition for the women and it will also be easy for him to finalize his squad for the Rugby World Cup.

When questioned if having a separate women’s competition will be part of discussions at the FRU Special General Meeting this Saturday, CEO John O’Connor says that will only happen if they find a sponsor for a stand alone women’s competition.

He adds if there is no separate sponsor then the same Skipper Cup format will remain.
