There will be a new champion in this year's Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s men's division after defending champions Wardens lost to Fiji Development 24-5 in the first elimination round.

Wardens had a scrappy start to the tournament after being held 21-all by Duibana before beating Nakaiolo 7-5 in their second pool game.

They did just enough to beat Vuda Green 7-0 in their final pool match to secure a place in the knockout stage.

Luck was not on their side in the eliminations as Fiji Development outsmarted them scoring 4 tries to 1.

In other results of the elimination round, Ratu Filise beat Duibana 12-7, Lavidi beat Wallis and Futuna 15-10, DXC Barbarians beat Raiwasa Taveuni 15-12, First Landing beat Nasonini 17-12, Police Blue beat Wadigi Salvo 21-10, Dominion Brothers beat Nawaka Black 14-5 and Fire beat Vueti Cakau 10-5.

Meanwhile, the quarter finals starts at 1.15pm, the semi finals start at 3.15pm and the final is at 5.20pm
