New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon will visit Fiji from Wednesday to discuss advancing trade and economic cooperation.

Luxon will meet Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to discuss prospects to further strengthen cooperation between the nations on bilateral, regional and multilateral priorities with emphasis on economic sustainability and growth, climate change, labour mobility, health and education, defence and security, people to people links, regional peace and prosperity, amongst key issues of importance to our nations.

It will be an opportunity to reflect on and refresh the ongoing cooperation underpinned by the Duavata Partnership Agreement.

The Prime Ministers will also attend the Joint New Zealand-Fiji and Fiji-New Zealand Business Council Conference, a platform to boost economy, trade and investment opportunities.

Luxon will meet with His Excellency the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, along with a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka.

He says Fiji is a critical partner for New Zealand, as Fiji is their biggest trading partner amongst Pacific Islands countries and there is plenty of scope to leverage even more economic opportunities for Kiwi and Fijian businesses.
