Nasinu U17 aim to break Deans quarter final barrier against RKS

Nasinu U17 aim to break Deans quarter final barrier against RKS

The Nasinu Secondary School Under-17 rugby team is determined to break past their traditional quarter final finish in the Vodafone Super Deans competition as they prepare to face Ratu Kadavulevu School next Saturday.

Nasinu secured their spot in the national quarter finals after a dominant 66-10 win over Navatu Secondary School.

Team captain Semi Cakaubora told fijivillage Sports that past U17 teams from Nasinu have only reached the quarter finals, but this year’s squad is aiming to go further.

He says he reminded the team after the win that preparations for the quarters start Monday and expects full commitment from all players at training.

Coach Semesa Matai praised the boys' teamwork, which was key in their big win against the Vanua Levu side.

However, he stressed the need for improved discipline as they prepare to face one of the Eastern Zone's powerhouses.

Other teams confirmed for the U17 national quarter finals are Shiri Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Suva Grammar School, Marist Brothers High School, Lelean Memorial School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, Natabua High School, and Ba Pro Freebird Institute.

The Vodafone Super Deans national quarter finals will be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi and Churchill Park in Lautoka next Saturday.
