DXC Army Green overcame a star-studded Police Blue side 19-14 in their first pool match in the 48th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s men's competition this morning.

Army Green manager Jonetani Gonekalou says they came into this tournament well prepared and their focus was on this match against the Police knowing they will be the tournament favourites, especially with the amount of national reps in their squad.

Gonekalou says the team was reminded to treat the match against the Police as a final.

He says they just focused on executing their game plan well and they did.

He adds their next game against Fire Rugby won't be easy and they will want to build on this win against the Police.

Meanwhile, Police Blue have the services of national 7s reps such as Joseva Talacolo, Waisea Nacuqu, Pilipo Bukayaro, Suliano Volivoli, Jeremaia Matana, Livai Ikanikoda and Keponi Paul.

The Army side had the services of Rokoua Rasaku.
