Man who allegedly raped cousin granted bail

A 27-year-old man who allegedly raped his 14-year-old cousin in a village in Serua has been granted bail.

The man appeared before High Court Judge, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe today.

He is charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault and the alleged incidents happened in August this year.

The court was told that the man would reside in Valelevu if granted bail while the girl is in Serua.

The prosecution has indicated that they will be calling three witnesses during the trial.

The matter has been adjourned to the 23rd of March.
