After falling short in the quarter-finals for two straight seasons, the Lautoka Men’s rugby team is determined to break through to the semi-finals of this year’s Skipper Cup.
Speaking to fijivillage Sports, head coach Peniona Ranitu says with renewed focus and a young energetic squad, Lautoka is putting in the hard work both on and off the field to improve their overall performance.
Ranitu says the team’s training sessions have centered around strengthening their set pieces, sharpening line-out execution, and reducing turnovers, key areas that could make the difference in crucial knockout matches.
He says most of Lautoka’s players are between the ages of 20 and 25, bringing fresh energy and a hunger to prove themselves on the national stage.
Lautoka will take on Tailevu at Churchill Park at 1pm Saturday.
In other quarterfinal matches, Suva will play Nadi at 3pm at Churchill Park, Ba will meet Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park at 1pm, while Nadroga will face Malolo at 3pm at the same venue.
