Investment Fiji’s Acting CEO, Kamal Chetty says they have registered 12 investment projects from USA and Canada last year which had a total value of $16.25 million.

Chetty says these projects were in the Tourism, Services, Real Estate and Manufacturing sectors.

He says the North American market has been among Fiji’s principal investment and trading destinations.

Chetty revealed this while speaking in the Fiji-North America Investment Webinar in close partnership with US Embassy in Fiji and the Fiji Embassy in Washington.

Meanwhile, Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, Faiyaz Koya says the webinar was a timely partnership between the two regions to showcase Fiji’s capabilities, opportunities and relevant incentives in Tourism, Agriculture, Manufacturing and Business Process Outsourcing sectors.

He says the government is undertaking reforms, which includes legislative reviews, especially modernisation of the investment law, streamlining and digitalisation of approval systems and processes.

Koya says they are working on a digital process for applications and approvals and by the end of 2022, North American investors can start a business in Fiji by completing the registrations processes from the comfort of their home or office.
