FIJI Water Flying Fijians halfback Sam Wye is still coming to terms with his selection to the national team and training alongside high-profile players and says he is ready for Tonga if given the chance.

He says it's surreal to now be preparing with them for the upcoming clash this Saturday.

Wye, who hails from Lau but was raised in New Zealand, visited the office of Communications Fiji Limited this morning alongside powerful prop Haereiti Hetet.

Wye says the team is expecting a physical encounter against Tonga and has been training hard to meet that challenge head-on this weekend.

He adds that he is confident in the team’s performance and is personally looking forward to delivering a strong showing in front of the home crowd.

Hetet echoed Wye’s sentiments, noting that Tonga’s strength lies in their forward pack, but assured fans that Fiji’s forwards are ready for the battle against their Pacific brothers.

He also called on fans to turn out in numbers to support the team, expressing his belief that Fiji will come out on top this Saturday.

The Flying Fijians will face Tonga at 3pm Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
