The Fiji women’s basketball side thrashed Vanuatu 103-42 in their third match of the FIBA Melanesia Cup last night.
Fiji dominated throughout the match to keep their campaign alive after going down to Papua New Guinea 53-37 in their second match.
18-year-old Ro Waqairawai, who made her debut, finished the match with a double-double, 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Speaking from the Solomon Islands, Waqairawai says the game was good, but she was nervous playing for the first time with the seniors of the team.
She highlighted that she took on basketball to follow her mother's footsteps.
Fiji will face New Caledonia at 11am today.
Meanwhile, the men’s team will face New Caledonia at 1.30pm today.
