Keresi Maya and Fiji National Rugby League Acting CEO, Don Natabe.

Fiji National Rugby League Acting CEO, Don Natabe says the question is why they should not allow Keresi Maya to play rugby league.

Maya was suspended from playing rugby union for 6 years after he assaulted a referee while playing for the Naitasiri U-19 rugby team.

Natabe says FNRL will make the decision whether Maya will play and that will be based on factors such as whether he is prepared to play.

He adds Maya’s club, the Nabua Broncos have requested that Maya be enrolled into the FNRL’s rehabilitation program.

Natabe says they have received communication from the Fiji Rugby Union to consider cross-code sanctions which they are considering.

Natabe says the FNRL will follow due process when coming to a decision.
