FMF Suva Rugby Union announces $22,500 payout for players after historic season

FMF Suva Rugby Union announces $22,500 payout for players after historic season

After winning the ANZ Marama Cup, Skipper Senior, and U20 titles in a single year, FMF Suva Rugby Union players shared $22,500 for their achievement this season.

The payout was part of the union's ongoing commitment to the welfare of the players and were distributed amongst their senior players, U20 team and Marama champion.

While speaking during the FMF Suva Rugby Union Awards Night at Studio 6 last night, Chairman, Viliame Draunibaka says they are immensely proud of all their teams and what they have accomplished this year.

Draunibaka says apart from the payout, $58,500 was paid to the players as their allowances during the Skipper competition, Men's U20 and the Marama Cup matches.

He says Suva's achievement was made possible through the strong grassroots development and the dedication of club players, coaches, fans, volunteers and their sponsors, FMF and Niltech Consultants.

He adds Suva's development program has been notably effective, feeding a substantial number of players into the Fijian Drua and the Flying Fijians team over the years.

Meanwhile, Pauliasi Korobiau was awarded the Most Valuable Player in the men's U20 while Isoa Tuwai was named the senior men's Most Valuable Player with Iosefo Namoce being named as senior men's Rookie of the Year. Sisilia Nakia-nivesi won the senior Senitoa Rookie of the Year while Mereoni Moceituba was the senior Most Valuable Player.
