Asco Foundation, the charitable arm of Asco Motors Fiji has donated 500 Disaster Relief Kits to the Fiji National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) this afternoon.

Asco Foundation Trustees says the Foundation is honoured to support the NDMO with the donation of these disaster relief kits which included water purification tablets, torches, dry biscuits, tarpaulins and a transistor radio to name a few.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer for Asco Motors, Ronald Kumar, says the Foundation is always ready to support the larger community as it is important to always be prepared to mitigate the effects of natural disasters.

Kumar says the health and safety of people are paramount.

NDMO Director, Vasiti Soko, says the global disasters such as the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and cyclone and flash floods in New Zealand- serves as a great reminder for us to be prepared at all times.

She thanked the Foundation on behalf of Government, for their kind thoughts in extending this donation to their Office to assist ordinary citizens during disasters.

She also reminded parents to keep their children safe as we are in the cyclone season.

She adds that the donations would go a long way in supporting families in the immediate aftermath of future disasters.
