The family of a 71-year-old fish vendor is frustrated and calling for a police response regarding the theft of 48 bundles of fish that occurred in the early hours of July 19th.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Rota Waqa, who is the daughter of fish vendor Jone Waqa, says her father lodged a report at the Totogo Police Station on the day of the incident, but the family has yet to receive any update from authorities.
She says they are still struggling to move on from the incident, as the loss of their fish, their main source of income, has deeply affected them.
She says her father has been a vendor at the Suva Fish Market for over 46 years and fish theft was not something that would happen.
Questions have been sent to police for an update.
Rota says they suspect the theft took place between 5am and 6am on July 19th, before vendors were officially allowed access to their tables, noting that the market only opens at 6am, according to the rules.
