12,400 students and 890 teachers affected by damages caused by TC Yasa

12,400 students and 890 teachers have been directly affected through the damages caused by Tropical Yasa as 126 schools in the country sustained damages.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says this includes 23 early childhood centres, 11 stand-alone early childhood centres, 73 primary schools and 19 secondary schools and also some teachers' quarters.

Akbar says they have identified 59 schools sustained more damages than others including 41 schools in Vanua Levu, 17 schools in the Lau Group, and one in the Lomaiviti Group.

She says they have completed repairs on 27 schools while 2 are currently in progress and is expected to be completed this week.
