Good news for rugby fans as another Super Rugby match will be held in Fiji this year.

Fiji Sports Council CEO and Super Rugby 2017 Steering Committee Chair Litiana Loabuka has confirmed that the Pulse Energy Highlanders will take on the Gallagher Chiefs at 7.35pm Saturday, the 30th of June this year.

Loabuka says that as part of the draw, it will be the Highlanders home game at the ANZ National Stadium in Suva.

She says the Highlanders were on the ground last year to observe the hosting of the Chiefs and Crusaders match.

Loabuka also thanked the government for ensuring that our rugby loving fans are able to watch a spectacular game live in Fiji and she says that without government’s backing, nothing would have been possible.

She says with the fixture now confirmed, the five-month operational countdown to hosting Fiji’s third successive Super Rugby match is being mapped out.

Highlanders head coach Aaron Mauger is looking forward to welcoming his new players and with a home side match in Fiji, admits it should prove interesting.

There are two players with Fiji connections in the Highlanders.

They are All Black Waisake Naholo and another up and coming player in outside back Tevita Nabura.

The 2018 Pulse Energy Highlanders squad includes eight current or former All Blacks and seven Maori All Blacks.

Tickets will go on sale from the 10th of February however the prices are yet to be confirmed.
