Floodwaters started rising in the Ba Market Open Shed area this afternoon.

Special Administrator Moshim Khan says Elevuka Creek has burst its banks, causing the flooding.

Khan says after teams worked tirelessly to clean the affected areas, the Ba Market reopened today, but only a few vendors turned up.

He adds that it has been raining continuously for the past three days.
