Land Transport Authority Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa has resigned from his position effective from today to join his family abroad.

LTA Deputy Board Chairperson Miliana Vulakouvaki says the Board of Directors acknowledges that this was not a decision made lightly and has accepted Rokosawa’s resignation with respect, understanding and deep appreciation for his years of service, leadership and contribution to the Authority.

She says Rokosawa has made the decision to step down for personal reasons and to join his family abroad.

Vulakouvaki says this was not a decision he made lightly, and while they are saddened to see him leave the LTA, the Board fully respects his decision and has accepted his resignation.

She says on behalf of the Board, management and staff, she expresses their sincere gratitude to Rokosawa, who was officially appointed Chief Executive Officer on 1st October 2024, following several years in senior leadership positions within the LTA.

He previously served as Acting CEO from October 2021 to July 2022 and again from April 2023, providing steady leadership during important periods of organisational and operational development.

Vulakouvaki says his contributions include strengthening the Authority’s financial and administrative systems as General Manager Finance and Administration from 2017 to 2019 and Chief Financial Officer from 2020 to 2022.

He has also served with the Fiji Police Force and in the banking sector.

In April 2024, in recognition of his experience and commitment to public service, he was appointed Interim Deputy Chairperson of the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji.

The Deputy Board Chairperson says Rokosawa leaves the LTA having made a meaningful contribution to the organisation and to the people they serve.

She says his knowledge, professionalism and experience have been an important part of the LTA’s continued progress.

Vulakouvaki says the Board is grateful for Rokosawa’s leadership, dedication and contribution towards strengthening the LTA and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.

In the interim, the Board has appointed General Manager Policy and Business Development Makitalena Drova as Acting Chief Executive Officer.

Drova will serve in the role pending the appointment of a substantive Chief Executive Officer through the appropriate recruitment process and due diligence.
