Japan and the Netherlands will face each other in a crucial FIFA World Cup Group F clash, with both sides aiming to make a strong start to their campaign.

Japan is making its eighth FIFA World Cup appearance and heads into the tournament after becoming the first nation to qualify through the Asian qualifiers.

The Samurai Blue reached the Round of 16 at the 2002, 2010, 2018 and 2022 World Cups and are currently ranked 18th in the FIFA World Rankings.

The Japanese will be hoping to build on their impressive showing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they stunned both Germany and Spain in the group stage.

Standing in their way is Netherlands, which is making its 12th FIFA World Cup appearance.

The Dutch have reached three World Cup finals but are still chasing their first title. They are currently ranked 8th in the FIFA World Rankings.

The Netherlands boasts a squad packed with talent playing in Europe's top leagues and will look to begin the tournament with a victory.

With both teams expected to challenge for a place in the knockout stages, the result could play a major role in shaping Group F.

The match kicks off at 8am.

Meanwhile, Germany delivered a ruthless statement in their FIFA World Cup opener, thrashing debutants Curacao 7-1.

In other matches, Ecuador will face Ivory Coast at 11am, while Sweden will take on Tunisia at 2pm.
