Joint operations team beefs up security coverage and covering red spots to ensure everyone is safe

Security coverage is being beefed up as there is increased movement from various activities to be held in Suva and nearby areas and other divisions.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Kasiano Vusonilawe has made these comments after fijivillage News asked Police about the joint military and police operations knowing that we have the Coca Cola Games starting today, the funeral gathering of Jone Vakarisi in Nabua and the Drua vs Highlanders game in Ba this Saturday.

ACP Vusonilawe says they are ready with their operational posture in covering the red spot areas and ensuring the safety of the students as well.

More than 200 officers are involved in providing security in and around the Coca Cola Games alone.

This include the wider area outside the stadium as police know that they also have to monitor activities during and after the Games.

All vehicles going to the Games venue will also be checked by the police.

Meanwhile the Republic of Fiji Military Forces says it is supporting Police in addressing drug-related activities across the Central/Eastern Division.

The RFMF says this support is provided under national law, with the Police leading all law enforcement operations.

The military says together, they remain committed to maintaining public safety and building a safer Fiji.
