What Jerry Tuwai has done for the game of rugby cannot be measured and he has nothing to defend - Raiwalui

Former Fiji Water Flying Fijians head coach Simon Raiwalui has praised two-time Olympic gold medallist, Jerry Tuwai for his achievements and says what he has done for the game of rugby cannot be measured and he has got nothing to defend.

Raiwalui tweeted this in response to the comment made by Tuwai that he does not like to talk a lot but he needs to defend his honour.

He says with every criticism and what has been said for the past few days, Fijians owe Tuwai a debt of gratitude.

Raiwalui adds that regardless of what happens in the next 12 months, Tuwai will go down as one of Fiji Rugby's greatest sons.

In an earlier statement, Tuwai confirmed that he is out of the Fiji Men's 7s program due to something he did that will benefit the team.

He also stated in a post on Facebook that the sacrifice he made that day cost him his place in the 7s Program.

He says the former Fiji 7s Strength and Conditioning coach, Etu Tusitala, is a good man and a great human being but the task that is given to him is more than he can handle.

Tuwai also asks if they, as senior players see something that is affecting the team’s performance, then should they keep their mouth shut and let everything go down the drain?

He says he has played with great coaches and management and also extraordinary players and leaders who have stood up for what is right and true.

Tuwai adds for nearly 10 years he has shouldered the call of God and the nation and he has never complained or backed down.

Tuwai says nothing lasts forever.

We are currently trying to get comments from the Fiji Rugby Union, Fiji Men’s 7s coach Ben Gollings and Jerry Tuwai.
