Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong

The aim is to have 30 percent of the children from 6 years and up to get the COVID vaccination and this will result in slowing down the national spread as we will then have 90 percent coverage of various populations.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong says that is the plan going forward when asked about the COVID vaccination plan for children aged from 6 to 11 years.

Doctor Fong also confirms that they will start with the 4th dose soon.

He says they will target the frontliners at all our ports to get their 4th dose especially the Fiji Airways team, airport staff and those who work in hotels.

The Permanent Secretary says they need the vaccination coverage for the 3rd booster dose to be escalated.

He says right now, 30% of the eligible population have received their 3rd booster shots, and more people need to come forward to get their dose to have long term protection.

57 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since last Friday.
