Fijian Broadcasting Corporation Board Chairman Ajay Bhai Amrit and sacked CEO of FBC Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Fijian Broadcasting Corporation Board Chairman, Ajay Bhai Amrit has today revealed that sacked CEO of FBC Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum received $304,453.08 during the COVID-19 year.

While speaking during the official welcome of the FBC Board, Amrit says Sayed-Khaiyum received a bonus of $25,671.28 during COVID.

This was paid out in a year when the FBC staff had pay cuts.

Amrit also revealed that Sayed-Khaiyum received a total bonus of $224,792.84 during his tenure as FBC CEO.

He says Sayed-Khaiyum would have received $30,000 to $35,000 as bonus this year.

The FBC board announced yesterday that they have no confidence in the ability of the CEO, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and they have chosen to legally terminate his employment status.

Amrit has said it became quite obvious to them that without the Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) cash injection from Government over the past years, the limited liability company would be classed as being technically insolvent.

The FBC Chairman says the leadership over the past 10+years has totally relied on Government revenue to continue its operations, and this is certainly not what the new board’s intent is.
