FijiCare launches insurance plan for travellers to Fiji that covers for isolation and PCR testing

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Travellers to Fiji can apply for insurance coverage for isolation, PCR testing, medical assistance and repatriation after the launch of the FijiCare COVID Insurance Product last night.

The cover is for upto $60,000 and is for 15 days that begins on the date of travel and it can be applied through the Fiji Visitors Insurance Portal.

While speaking during the launch, Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this product will give us an advantage over our competitors.

He says Australians and Americans who want to come to Fiji will know that Fiji is a safe place to go to.

Sayed-Khaiyum says health and safety matter but what also matters is the pricing because there are numerous countries and hotels all over the world and in particular the ones we are competing with that are trying to get a big chunk of the market share at any cost.

He says they have found out through third party that hotels in Bali are giving 2 or 4 nights for free just for a share of the market.

Meanwhile, Tourism Fiji CEO, Brent Hill says this insurance product is going to give an enormous advantage over our competitors because this solution has demonstrated the willingness of government and the tourism industry to do what is needed to be done to remove barriers and maximize the experience for the tourist.
