The Fiji Police Force continues to step up on their drug operations following some drug-related arrests that occurred over the weekend.

Police confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested in Caubati following the discovery of plastic bags containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu says the suspect is also being investigated for bribery, as he allegedly offered money to a Police officer during the time of arrest.

He says as investigations continue, Police officers continue to be reminded of their role in disrupting and dismantling drug supply and will not condone such attempts to derail efforts.

ACP Driu reassures the public that if reports are received of police involvement, necessary disciplinary measures will be taken in both internal and criminal proceedings.

Meanwhile, 4 men were arrested in Samabula and Sigatoka after they were found with white substances believed to be methamphetamine.

Arrests were also made in Korovou, Tailevu, Lautoka, Sigatoka and Vanua Levu for unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs believed to be marijuana with more than 100 plants uprooted in Karoko.

ACP Driu is urging the public to continue sharing information of suspected drug-related activities through Crime Stoppers on 919 or 917.
