Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and NFP Leader Prof. Biman Prasad

Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says calling People’s Alliance “Paap” or “Paapi” is a play of words just like calling someone from Australia an Australian, and Fijian if someone is from Fiji.

He stated this when questioned on concerns raised by National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad that Sayed-Khaiyum continues to call People’s Alliance “Paapi” which means sinner in Hindi.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds Prasad has been saying that the Minister for Economy is not talking about the cost of living however his press conference on Sunday was about the inflation mitigation package where he talked about how they will help people meet their costs.

He says the entire budget was about this.

When contacted, Prasad says everybody in this country knows why Sayed-Khaiyum is saying “Paapi” and he cannot get away from childish and a juvenile attempt to paint a political party in this way.

Prasad goes on to say that Sayed-Khaiyum also knows really well the NFP had put out very detailed policies well before the 2018 elections.

The NFP Leader adds Sayed-Khaiyum has forgotten that his party’s manifesto was put out just three or four days before the 2018 elections.
