Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and former Minister and Ambassador Sir James Ah Koy have today received the Companion of Order of Fiji medals from President Jioji Konrote.

Sayed-Khaiyum and Sir James got the medals for their service to the country in an Investiture Ceremony which is currently underway at State House. It has been highlighted they are getting the medals for their eminent achievements and merit of the highest degree for their services in Fiji and for humanity at large.

Sayed-Khaiyum has served in the Voreqe Bainimarama led interim government from 2007 to 2014 as Interim Attorney General and has also held other ministerial portfolios. He has also been elected twice as a Member of Parliament under the FijiFirst and continues to serve as the Attorney General from 2014 to date. He is also the Minister for Economy.

Sayed-Khaiyum says he is surprised after receiving the notification on Sunday.

He was also emotional while thanking the Prime Minister and his family members.

Sir James Ah Koy has served as Finance Minister in the former Sitiveni Rabuka led government. He has also served as Fiji’s Ambassador.


Chartered accountant, Iowane Naiveli, former senior lawyer, Barry Sweetman, Shore Buses Limited owner Jasper Singh, former Minister and rugby player, Ratu Ilaitia Tuisese, former Ambassador and rugby player and Pio Bosco Tikoisuva received the Officer of the Order of Fiji medal.

 

Fiji 7s Coach, Gareth Baber received the Honorary Officer of the Order of Fiji medal.

Ba doctor, Dur Samy, businessman and a person who has done a lot of work for charity, Mahendra Lal Tappoo and Inoke Kadralevu received the Member of the Order of Fiji medal.

National 7s reps, Jerry Tuwai, Alasio Naduva, Vatemo Ravouvou, Jasa Veremalua, Paula Dranisinukula, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Ratu Josua Vakurunabili have received the Medal of the Order of Fiji.

Others who have received the Medal of the Order of Fiji are 7s trainer, Naca Cawanibuka, 7s manager, Jone Niurua, human rights lawyer, Sabrina Iqbal Khan, Radhika Usha Prasad, Asinate Saukuru, Shiv Nand Sharma, Vitendra Sharma, Nirmala Pariachi, Lemeki Lenoa, Sitiveni Lalibuli and Suliana Sandys.

The bravery medals were received by Narieta Disaurara, Katarina Nabogi and Misa Cakacaka.
