Serena Williams announced her retirement from tennis on the cover of the September issue of Vogue this week. The tennis legend said, “Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution. I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me.”
Vogue also announced last week that they would be staging a fashion show and street fair during this upcoming New York Fashion Week. The event is in celebration of the magazine’s 130th anniversary.
Also in the September issue is a celebration of fashion’s new world. The portfolio features designers who best reflect our changing times including Christopher John Rogers and Alessandro Michele.
Copenhagen Fashion Week was in full swing last week, and as usual the front row regulars served up enviable and colorful street style.
Finally, the fashion world mourned the loss of Issey Miyake this week. The designer, known for his pleated designs, died at the age of 84.
