Josua Tuisova on attack against the Blitzboks defenders

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has won the London 7s after defeating South Africa 21‑17 in the final this morning.

This is Fiji’s fifth gold medal in the 2017/2018 World Sevens Series as they did it in style with three converted tries against a tough South African 7s side.

South Africa scored the first try after Sevuloni Mocenacagi was yellow carded for tackling a player in the air.

Despite the yellow card, Fiji still managed to level the score with a try to Josua Tuisova who bulldozed his way through three South African players.

The scores were level 7-all at half time.

Coach Gareth Baber maintained his area of focus on possession and controlling the game.

Fiji went on to score their second try through Paula Dranisinukula as he collected a brilliant offload from Amenoni Nasilasila while their final try was scored by Jasa Veremalua who combined well with Josua Vakurinabili.

South Africa stayed in the fight with two converted tries to Ruhan Nel and Zain Davids.

Captain Jerry Tuwai thanked the supporters for giving them the much needed boost they needed.

Player of the Final, Semi Radradra says the players trusted each other.

Coach Gareth Baber says consistency is the key for the win today.

Baber also acknowledged Radradra and Tuisova’s involvement with the team this weekend.

He adds that it was tough to pick his final team but he had to make a decision.

Meanwhile, South Africa 7s coach Neil Powell says they don’t have any excuse for falling short today.

Fiji has extended their lead on the points table with 167 points, South Africa is still in second place with 160 points, New Zealand is in third place with 133 points while Australia is in fourth place with 118 points.

The last tournament will be held in Paris this weekend where the winner of the World Sevens Series will be crowned.

Fiji just needs to reach the final of the Paris 7s this  weekend to win the World Sevens Series.

Meanwhile, Semi Radradra, Josua Tuisova and Paula Dranisinukula were included in the London 7s dream team.
