Zootropolis 2 has become Hollywood’s highest-grossing animated film of all time after earning US$1.7 billion (FJ$3.75 billion) at the global box office.
The film, known as Zootopia 2 in some countries, has overtaken the previous record holder Inside Out 2, which grossed US$1.69 billion following its release in 2024.
Zootropolis 2 is now the ninth highest-grossing film in global box office history, ranking behind titles such as Avatar, Titanic, Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
However, despite its Hollywood record-breaking success, the highest-grossing animated film overall remains China’s Ne Zha 2, which earned US$2.2 billion last year.
Released in November, Zootropolis 2 had an estimated production budget of US$150 million and is the sequel to the original Zootropolis, released in 2016.
