Students resume classes today as Term 2 begins- Radrodro

Thousands of students around Fiji will return to school today as Term 2 of the 2026 academic year officially begins, with the Ministry of Education maintaining its commitment to improving learning outcomes and ensuring every child has access to quality education opportunities.

The Ministry says teachers returned to their respective schools yesterday to undertake planning and preparation activities, while boarding students have also arrived ahead of the resumption of classes.

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro welcomed students, teachers, parents, and school communities back for the new term, encouraging students to approach their studies with focus, discipline, and determination to enhance their academic performance.

He emphasised that education remains a vital pathway to a brighter future and urged students to work diligently, respect their teachers and parents, and make full use of the opportunities available to them during the term.

Radrodro also reminded parents and students that bus card redemption services are now available at all previously announced locations.

The Ministry of Education will continue to prioritise strengthening teaching and learning, addressing learning gaps, and improving literacy and numeracy outcomes across all year levels during the term.

Parents and guardians are also reminded of their important role in supporting regular school attendance, maintaining healthy routines, and encouraging positive behaviour at home to help children succeed academically.

Radrodro says the ongoing support of donor partners in assisting the Ministry to meet students’ needs and improve access to quality education for future generations.

He also thanked teachers, school leaders, parents, and the Vanua for their continued commitment and support in ensuring children across Fiji receive the quality education they deserve and are well prepared for their future pathways.
