Ashley Tisdale has announced her return to television, six years after stepping away from on-screen roles.
The actress, best known for her work in both film and television comedies, revealed she is set to star in a new series titled 'You’re Only Young Twice', marking her first small-screen project since 'Carol's Second Act'.
Sharing the update on Instagram on Tisdale joked about her decision to come out of retirement.
The comedy series, which is currently in early development and has not yet been officially picked up, centres on Emily, played by Tisdale, and her former husband Alex.
The pair married in high school after Emily became pregnant.
Now aged 35, with their child heading off to college, they decide to divorce and begin a new chapter in their lives.
According to industry reports, the storyline follows the newly divorced couple as they navigate dating and co-parenting in their mid-30s, at a stage when they are “still young enough to enjoy it”.
In addition to starring in the series, Tisdale will serve as an executive producer alongside writer Tommy Johnagin and producer Mandy Summers.
The project may be picked up by CBS, though no official commissioning decision has been announced.
Tisdale’s return is likely to be welcomed by fans who have followed her career across television and film, as she steps back into a leading comedic role after several years away from acting.
