Ed Sheeran will be releasing the the full Punjabi version of his hit song Sapphire with Indian singing sensation Arijit Singh in a couple of weeks.

Sheeran has embraced Indian culture by singing Punjabi lyrics in the new song.

While sharing a reel on Facebook, which gives a glimpse of him singing the song, the British singer says he first became aware of Singh’s music when he watched the film Aashiqui 2 and heard the hit song Tum Hi Ho.

Sheeran says he was spellbound by the singer’s voice and got in touch with him, offering to collaborate on a song.

He says he was a guest at the Indian singer’s show in London and played an early version of Sapphire in the dressing room.

They exchanged ideas for instruments and melodies over email and completed the song while Sheeran was on his tour of India.

Sheeran says Singh taught him Punjabi and how to pronounce the words correctly.

Sapphire is part of his new album ‘Play’.
