Visa launches regional office in Suva

Visa launches regional office in Suva

Today marks more than a launch of a new office as it signals Fiji's readiness to engage at a higher level and strengthen its position in the Pacific.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka highlighted this saying Visa's decision to base their Pacific Islands regional office in Suva reflects confidence in our stability, our people and the direction of our economy.

He acknowledges the role Visa plays by working with local partners to support new opportunities and support sustainable economic progress across the region.

The Deputy Prime Minister says Fiji sits in a region moving through rapid change.

He says their work in connecting Fiji businesses, citizens and visitors to global markets has supported our economic development for years.

Gavoka says every transaction through their network supports the confidence we work hard to maintain in Fiji's financial system.

The Deputy Prime Minister says he wholeheartedly welcomes Visa's fiscal presence in the Pacific Islands so it can serve our region more effectively.

He says as Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, he sees these linkages across our borders.

Gavoka says tourism remains central to our economy and trade advances growth.

He says digital payments sit at the core of these activities as they support the visit experience, and widen market access for local enterprises.

Gavoka adds they strengthen trust in our financial systems.
