Fijians are strongly advised to avoid all travel to, or transit through, the Middle East at this time.
This includes the countries of Bahrain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Yemen, Oman and Cyprus.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade is advising Fijian nationals to closely monitor developments in the Middle East following the recent escalation of hostilities in the region.
Fijians currently visiting or travelling in the region are advised to leave as soon as it is safe to do so, using available commercial flights as services gradually resume in some countries.
The Ministry says travellers should confirm the status of flights with their airline or travel provider before heading to the airport.
If direct routes are unavailable, alternative travel options are recommended where possible.
Those in the region are also encouraged to register with the Fiji Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Fiji Embassy in Jerusalem to ensure they can be contacted and assisted if necessary.
If airspace remains closed or the security situation makes travel unsafe, nationals are advised to shelter in place and follow instructions from local authorities.
The Ministry’s joint Emergency Operations Centre continues to monitor the situation and explore options to support Fijians affected by the conflict.
