CEO Farid Mohammed has announced that a $14 million first phase upgrade of its sites in the main centres in Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Nausori has been completed to help improve data capacity.

Digicel Fiji is making a $30 million investment to improve its networks around the country and provide faster internet to its customers.

CEO Farid Mohammed has announced that a $14 million first phase upgrade of its sites in the main centres in Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Nausori has been completed to help improve data capacity.

He says its first phase upgrade has also increased coverage in maritime areas and across Vanua Levu.

Mohammed says this upgrade will definitely bring 4G to areas that are 3G only and will see its main centres upgraded to LTE advanced pro technology.

LTE advanced pro technology is faster than 4G.

Mohammed says another $16 million will be invested into upgrading the rest of its networks to meet future demand.

He adds the second phase of the upgrades which they have already embarked on targets the upgrade of all remaining sites to LTE or 4G.

This includes Vanua Levu, Koro, Taveuni, Lau and other maritime areas.
