The Damodar Group and Yatu Lau Limited have officially begun their development partnership in Serua, marking the occasion with a traditional sevusevu ceremony presented to the Vunivalu na Tui Serua Ratu Tevita Mara Latianara.

Div Damodar says the occasion was deeply emotional and touching, and they are grateful to the Vunivalu, and the people of Serua for blessing the development of the new Arts Village.

Damodar says the development will not only transform Navua, but also create significant opportunities to grow the tourism industry in Fiji.

He highlighted that their primary focus with the Arts Village is to bring iTaukei culture back to the forefront of the tourism experience—especially traditional dances.

He adds that through this initiative, Fiji’s traditional stories will also be shared with tourists who visit the country.

Damodar describes their trip to Serua Island as an emotional journey, where meaningful discussions took place about the positive impact the project will have on future generations of Fiji.

He says it’s hard to put the experience into words, but they feel incredibly blessed and are looking forward to transforming the Navua economy and expanding that impact to neighbouring provinces near Pacific Harbour.
