Car fire in Nadawa triggers explosions, investigation underway

A car caught fire last night in Nadawa, triggering a series of explosions in the area, with the vehicle completely damaged in the blaze.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Nadawa resident Erica Leger says upon hearing the blasts, they immediately alerted authorities.

She says the police and fire brigade responded quickly to the scene and were able to control the blaze.

Leger says the fire began around 12:30am and within 20 minutes, authorities had reached the scene.

She says before the authorities arrived, a man was seen trying to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher. However, the car could not be saved.

The cause of fire is yet to be determined.

We have sent questions to the police to inquire about the circumstances surrounding the fire.
