Residents thankful after hurricane
Residents of Nubu, 35 miles outside Labasa town in Eastern Vanua Levu are thankful that they are safe after Hurricane Tomas.

Kamal Singh a resident told Fijivillage that around sixty families battled with damaging winds for over three days.

According to Singh, residents stayed indoors from Saturday afternoon till Monday as they did not have the chance to move around to find a much safer place.

Singh said there are seven members in his family including his wife, children and elderly relatives and they have limited food.

Singh added many residents lost their generators which they used to provide electricity and they also have their own source of water supply.

According to Singh they live near Udu point and said about 80% of their sugarcane farms have been damaged as majority of the people there are farmers.
