Farmers in the Northern Division are concerned that the Labasa Sugar Mill is not issuing new quotas to them since last week.
The Sugar Cane Grower’s Council, who has also received complaints confirmed that the Labasa Sugar Mill is encountering some technical problems.
Chief executive Sundresh Chetty said they have consulted the Fiji Sugar Corporation and have been informed that there are problems with the mill’s boiler.
Chetty said they have been assured by the FSC that they are trying their best to fix the problem.
Meanwhile, FSC chief executive Deo Sharan, when contacted this afternoon, revealed that the growers have been informed of the issue and should the growers face any difficulty, they can contact their gang sardars.
