Two descending family members of Reverend William Cross, the first missionary to Fiji is being accorded a special honour by the Burebasaga Confederacy.

Today marks the 175th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in Rewa where the missionaries were accepted by the chiefs to stay.

Chiefly herald, Ro Dona Takalaiyale said the occasion is very symbolic to the Vanua because the missionaries brought change and converted the chiefs and people to Christianity and away from cannibalism.

He added two war clubs that were presented to William Cross as a token of their acceptance of Christianity is being returned by Cross’s descendants that will be handed to High Chief Ro Teimumu Kepa.
