Plight of Island Rugby Highlighted
The Samoan Rugby Union are looking at the possibility of pushing for a Super Rugby side that would play most of its "home" games in either Australia or New Zealand.

The latest round talks between SANZAR officials and members of the Samoan and Fiji Rugby Union's concluded earlier last month in Apia.

Members of the Tongan Rugby Union were also meant to be present but they were unable to attend.

With Samoa alomost forced to pull out of this Wednesday's Test with the All Blacks due to a lack of players, the plight of island rugby was again highlighted last week.

Each of the three unions, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, are pushing for their own stand-alone sides that would compete in an enlarged Super Rugby tournament.

SANZAR are expected to give the green-light to major changes that will effect in 2011, and the Samoan Rugby Union have stressed that they want a stand-alose side.
