Farrington to bring bold island-inspired designs to Fiji Fashion Week

Farrington to bring bold island-inspired designs to Fiji Fashion Week

After 16 years of living in Fiji, fashion designer Tracey Farrington says the country now feels more like home than Australia as she prepares to showcase her latest collection at the Fiji Fashion Week.

Originally from Bondi Beach in Australia, Farrington says she has spent most of her life in the fashion industry after studying at the East Sydney School of Fashion at the age of 16.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Farrington says she draws much of her inspiration from Fiji’s ocean colours, tropical lifestyle and relaxed island atmosphere.

She says her latest collection, titled “Illumination”, features bold colours, natural fibres and resort wear designs inspired by shells, bracelets and beach life.

The designer says finding the right niche and managing finances are among the biggest challenges in the fashion industry, adding that passion and discipline are important for anyone wanting to succeed.

She is also encouraging young Fijians interested in fashion to stay dedicated, trust their instincts and be prepared to work hard to achieve their goals.

Farrington also praised Fiji Fashion Week and founder Ellen Whippy-Knight for creating opportunities for designers to showcase their talent.

The Fiji Fashion Week show will be held today at the Vodafone Arena from 6pm, with tickets available for purchase at the venue from 10am.
