The Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji Resort is set to add an exciting new dimension to the 2026 McDonald's Coral Coast Fiji 7s rugby tournament with the introduction of the Fastest Player Sprint on Saturday, 17 January 2026.

This high-energy event will showcase the fastest players from all participating teams in a thrilling 100-metre race, adding an extra layer of spectacle to the tournament's already action-packed schedule.

The Fastest Player Sprint will be held in three separate divisions to ensure a fair and inclusive competition.

There will be 16 ocmpetitors in the Youth Division, 10 in the Women's Division, and 24 in the Men's.

The winners of each division will receive a premium prize courtesy of Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji Resort, reflecting the resort’s commitment to recognising excellence in the sport and rewarding top-tier performance across all levels.

General Manager of Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji Resort, Francis Lee expressed his excitement about the addition of the sprint.

Lee says the Fastest Player Sprint is a fantastic addition to the tournament, and they are thrilled to reward the winners with a Shangri-La experience that reflects excellence both on and off the field.
