Rewa FC are back-to-back Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion winners after holding Labasa FC to a nil-all draw in the second leg today.
Rewa secured the advantage in the first leg with a 1–nil victory over Labasa, a result that ultimately proved decisive in the two-legged contest.
Needing a two-goal win to claim the title, Labasa pushed hard in front of their home crowd but were unable to break through Rewa’s defence.
Despite several attempts from both sides, the second leg ended in a goalless stalemate.
Rewa FC coach Priyant Manu says they knew a draw would be enough to secure the tournament and although they missed several chances, the team defended strongly when it mattered most.
He says they worked hard on their defensive structure and were prepared to defend in the final 15 to 20 minutes.
The coach also acknowledged the effort of players who travelled by boat on the morning of the match, saying it was not easy but the team delivered a strong performance.
The result sees Rewa lift the Champion vs Champion trophy once again, capping off a tightly contested series between the two rivals.
