Labasa FC claimed a 3-1 win over Nadi in their Extra Premier League clash at Subrail Park, delivering a strong performance in front of their home fans.

Melvin Mani gave Labasa the early lead before Frances Catarogo doubled the advantage to put the Babasiga Lions firmly in control.

Veteran striker Taniela Waqa later added Labasa’s third goal to secure the victory.

Nadi managed to pull one goal back but their hopes faded after they were reduced to 10 men in the second half when captain Akimi Rarulu was shown a red card.

Speaking after the match, Labasa captain Akeimi Ralulu thanked the fans for turning up in large numbers and said the team was determined to prove their critics wrong.

He also acknowledged the contribution of Apisalome Vota saying his experience has been a big boost for the team.

Ralulu adds that the team will return to training next week as they continue preparations for their upcoming matches.
