After sitting out Round One with a bye, the Hurricanes ran rampant against Moana Pasifika in their Super Rugby Pacific opener to secure a 52-10 win and earn a bonus point.
The Hurricanes took a 24-5 lead into the break.
Winger Josh Moorby scored three of the home side’s five tries in the dominant win.
To add to Moana Pasifika’s woes, they lost Israel Leota and William Havili to injury, with Havili being stretchered off in the 63rd minute with a head or neck injury.
In other games, the Highlanders will meet the Chiefs at 6.05pm tonight. The Force will face the Blues at 8.35pm tonight, while the Crusaders play the Brumbies at 2.35pm tomorrow.
